Athens Bench Mark

The competition is open to all designers and creative teams worldwide. The goal is to generate global submissions that will contribute their artistic flavor on new benches throughout Athens.

The winning proposals will be three. If you think you can be one of the three lucky winners to change up Athens, then don’t give it another thought. Get to it!

What you have to do?

Before you start working, first make sure to carefully review the technical specifications your proposal must adhere too to be considered. Remember all great ideas need a solid execution strategy.

What you need to know?

All creative works submissions will be posted online on the Athens Bench Mark website. Submissions will be rated by online visitors on a scale of 1 to 10, from least favoured to best liked.

The public will accordingly decide which one hundred proposals (100) scored highest. The one-hundred proposals will then go to an evaluating committee who will select their top ten (10) to go on to become finalists.

Think, do you have what it takes to be one of the finalists? Three (3) of the finalists will go on to be winners of the competition, and at least of them will enjoy the prestige of his idea to decorate the new benches throughout Athens!

The contest begins on February 23rd, 2010 and ends on April 6th, 2010, so better get started!

From February 23rd to April 18th the public will judge and rate every submission by participating in a very simple process.

Design Specifications

The competition Athens Bench Mark is for new benches that will undergo industrial production, therefore it is neccessary to design benches with specific standards in mind.

Design aesthetics and harmony - the way it is implied by the central idea of the contest - in the relation of the relevant proposal with the urban environment.
Object ergonomics to suit not only the average user but as well the elder, disabled people ect.
Quality of materials and functionality
Innovative and sustainable design.
Environmentally friendly and other possible materials and methods of building the final product in an eco friendly or energy saving manner…”Green product”. More > >

Inspiration

The competition Future Bench has no required design specifications. Designs will be the free creation of the artist. Benches will be exhibited in a major art exhibition called Future Bench.
