The bench has always been a separate item in the urban landscapes of all world cultures. It was and is a reference point of our daily life. It is part of our collective life and cultural identity of our city.

Implementing the program Athens Bench Mark contributes directly to the aesthetic improvement of the public environment and creates thousands of creativity hubs, inspiration and culture in the city.

In this way, we mark the transition of our city from an urban set that only serves operational needs into a modern city that uses creativity and culture to improve the quality of life for its citizens and visitors.

Athens Bench Mark, is at once, a global call for creativity, an artistic event, a project that contributes to the international promotion of our city and an attempt for Athens to become a modern, high quality tourist destination.

The City of Athens has included the Athens Bench Mark to the "Athens 2010" Program in the package of actions that our task is to put in Athens, with ecological awareness, participatory behavior and with social and cultural reference.

In this effort we should all leave our mark.
